The light, lives and textures of the contemporary working class Mumbaja will be explored and celebrated by writer Payal Kapadia, who won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Festival this year for his first feature film fiction. The center of two roommates who also cooperate in the city hospital – Sister Prabha (Kani Kusruti) and the recent rent anu (Divya Prabha) – as well as their colleague Cook Cook Parvaty (Chhaya Kadam), Kapadia’s film has gone and sorrow, hope and disappointment. Prabha, her husband of an arranged marriage living in a distance in Germany, is a hospital doctor ordered; Anu makes romance with a Muslim man who must hold a secret from his strict Hindu family; Parvaty found himself in faces of a sudden expulsion of his apartment. Capadia captures the agitation of the metropolis and the outer peace of the seaside village with the same radiation, expressed by its excellent actresses and camera with lyrical naturalism, which sometimes derives in a dream bulb. Everything we imagine as light is a moving study of the transformation power of friendship and brotherhood, in all its complexity and wealth.
